Cream butter, shortening and sugar. Add eggs, sour cream and vanilla. Beat well and gradually add dry ingredient. When mixture is too thick to beat, stir with spoon until well mixed.
Pour half of mixture in buttered 9" tube pan (buttered and floured). Sprinkle with topping. Pour remainder of mixture over topping. Sprinkle with remainder of topping.
Bake in moderate oven 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes, or unil toothpick comes out clean. Sprinkle confectionary sugar over top while still hot. Let cool 15-20 minutes before cutting.
