5 med apples, 3 granny smith and 2 golden delicious, peeled, cored and cut into slices (7 cups)
2 c blackberries, fresh or frozen
3 T flour
1/2 c sugar
1/2 t cinnamon
STREUSEL TOPPING-
6 T light brown sugar
2 T sugar
3/4 c flour
1 t ground cinnamon
6 T unsalted butter, cold and cut into bits
Instructions
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pie dough to form a 12 inch circle. Lightly mist a 9 inch pie plate with vegetable oil spray and line with the dough. Trim and crimp the edges of the dough. Chill the pie shell for 30 minutes. OVen to 425 degrees. Toss apples, blackberries, flour, sugar and cinnamon in large mixing bowl. Fill shell with the fruit and cover pie with streusel topping. Bake for 30 minutes. Remove the pie adn lower the temperature to 375 degrees. Loosely cover the pie with foil and bake an additional 30 minutes or until teh pie's juices are bubbling and thick. Cool the pie on a rack. Serve at room temperature.
STREUSEL TOPPING- Place the 1st 4 ingredietns together in a mixing bowl. Cut in the cold butter with two forks untilt he mixture looks crumbly. (You could also use a food processor fitted with a steel blade, pulsing to create the desired texture.) Finish by pressing mixture together in your hands to form coin-size clumps.
