Soak sliced tomatoes in buttermilk or dip in egg for 2 - 3 minutes (either one). Dip in a mixture of 1/2 all purpose flour (or self rising flour) and 1/2 Hoover's corn meal.
Fry in 1/2 inch oil until brown. "Make sure brown on both sides" per Mama.
