Mix butter and herbs in small bowl. Rinse turkey inside and out; pat dry. Place on rack set in large roasting pan. Sprinkle inside and out with salt and pepper. Rub mixture over entire bird. Place onion in pan around turkey. Set rack at lowest position in oven and preheat to 350 degrees. Roast turkey uncovered 1 hour. tent turkey breast and tops of drumsticks loosely with foil; roast 1 hour longer. Add 1 cup chicken broth to drippings in pan. Continue to roast until thermometer inserted into thickest part of thigh registers 175 degrees. Basting every 30 mins. with pan drippings. Cook for 2 hours and 30 mins. or until thermometer reaches 175 degrees. Transfer to cutting board and let stand for 30 mins. Make gravy with pan drippings. Heat pan drippings in large skillet. Add approximately 2 Tblsp flour, stirring to blend, begin slowly adding 1 to 3 cups of water until it reaches the consistancy you like. season with salt and pepper
