3/4 cup raisins or dried apple or dried cranberries
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup honey
1egg, beaten
1/2 cup Vegetable or Canola Oil or Apple Sauce
2 tsp Vanilla Extract
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Generously grease or line
9x13 inch pan with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, mix together the oats, brown sugar, wheat
germ, cinnamon, flour, raisins and salt. Make a well in the
centre. Mix in separate bowl whisk together warm honey, egg,
oil and vanilla. Pour egg mixture into well of flour mixture. Mix
well.
Spoon mixture into pan and press down. It will not take up the
whole pan. Leave about an inch on one end of pan with no
mixture. The granola holds it shape when baking and will not
spread out.
Bake for about 20 minutes, being careful to not over bake.
They are done when the edges start to turn golden brown. The
middle may appear under baked but will continue to bake a bit
when taken out to cool. Cool for about 10 minutes then cut into
bars while just warm.
Other ingredient suggestions are coconut, mini chocolate
chips, sunflower seeds, chopped peanuts, peanut butter,
mashed banana.
