Cook potatoes till tender, then mash or puree in their cooking water. Add minced garlic when potatoes are tender. Add salt & pepper. Steam your choice of vegetables until tender. Add steamed veggies to puree. Add milk & butter to taste (optional) (I add some onion and skip the garlic.) The more veggies you add, the thicker the soup will be.
