Peel onion and cut into 8 wedges. Peel garlic and slice off 1/4 from the top. Wrap onion and garlic together in tin foil. Roast at 350 degrees for 60 minutes.
Blend onion, garlic and broth well. Add Parmesan, salt and pepper to taste. Combine sauce with cooked pasta.
Optional - Add 1/4 c. mozzarella cheese to sauce when blending.
