3 1/2 cups flour (bread flour gives a softer crust)
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
Instructions
Mix warm water and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes
until the yeast is dissolved.
Mix in oil, flour, salt, and sugar on low for a
minute. With a dough hook on low or medium speed,
mix about 10 minutes or until dough is smooth and
elastic. If the dough seems too wet, sprinkle on a
bit more flour.
Place the ball of dough in a bowl that has been
coated lightly with olive oil. Turn the dough
around in the bowl so it gets coated with the oil.
Cover with plastic wrap or a warm damp towel. Let
sit in a warm place (75-85 degrees) until it
doubles in size (about 1 to 1 1/2 hours). If you
don't have a warm spot in the house you can heat
the oven to 150 degrees and then turn the oven
off. Let it cool a bit and then place the bowl of
dough in it. (At this point you can freeze the
dough in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks)
Preheat the oven to 450. Uncover dough and punch
the center down so it deflates a bit. Divide the
dough in half. Letting the two balls sit covered
for 10 minutes helps but I've done it without.
Stretch out the dough onto cookie sheets or pizza
pans.
Add tomato sauce, pizza spice, onions, peppers,
olives, pepperoni, hamburger, cheese, etc. to the
pizza. Cook for 10-15 minutes or until the crust is
golden brown.
