In a medium mixing bowl, stir together the Bisquik and salt. Cut in by hand or pastry blender the shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add buttermilk and stir until well mixed (I knead by hand).
In a slightly sprayed oiled iron skillet, place a hand rolled biscuit in the center and pat down to about 3/4 inch. Add additional biscuits around the center until all dough is used. Let stand about 15-20 minutes to rise.
Bake at 450F for about 15 minutes or until browned
