Preheat oven to 375. In small bowl, combine sugar and
almond flavoring; cover and set aside. Combine 1/3 cup
butter, cream cheese, and egg yolk; blend until smooth. Stir in
2 level cups of mix. Knead on floured surface 25 strokes.

Roll or press to 12 x 12 square. Spread with 1 Tbsp. butter.
Cut dough in half; place one half on greased cookie sheet.
Spoon sugar mixture to 1/2 from edge. Place other half,
buttered side down, on top. Press edges to seal.

Brush with slightly beaten egg white and sprinkle with
almonds. Bake at 375 degrees for 22-30 minutes until golden
brown. Cool and cut into 1/2 inch strips. Makes 4 dozen.
