2 cups flour
|

2 tsps. baking powder
|
|
1/4 cup brandy or ouzo
|
|
1/2 tsp. salt
|
|
juice of 1 lemon
|
|
oil for deep frying
|

SYRUP-
|
|
1 cup honey & 1 tsp. lemon juice. 1 c, water,
|
|
|
|
Cook until it becomes a syrup.
|
|
I use leftover baklava syrup & add about 2 TBSP. honey.
|

Instructions |
|
|
Sift flour, baking powder & salt into a large bowl.
|
|
|
Add enough cold water to make a smooth batter (start w/ 1/2 cup), then add lemon juice & brandy.
|
|
|
Heat oil until boiling, then drop spoonfuls of batter into it, 2 or 3 at a time.
|
|
|
When fritters are swollen & lightly brown, remove & drain on paper towels.
Heat syrup & pour over loukoumades. Sprinkle w/walnuts & cinnamon.
