In a large sauce pan, melt the butter. Add the apples, onion, garlic, and pepper. Stir and cook over medium heat until the onions are translucent.
Add the flour, curry powder, and salt. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly. Slowly add the milk and broth, stirring as you go.
Bring to a boil, and then cook, uncovered, for around 15 minutes. Stir occasionally.
Add the chicken, bring to a boil again, and cook for an additional 15 minutes.
