Preheat oven to 350. Place two egg whites in small bowl, let stand
at room temperature for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, in large bowl
cream butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg
white, gradually add flour to creamed mixture.
Press into a greased 8 inch by 8 inch pan. Bake 9 to 11 minutes.
Increase oven to 400.
With clean beaters, beat reserved egg whites on medium speed until
foamy. Gradually add sugar, 1 Tbsp at a time, beating on high after
each addition until sugar is dissolved. Continue till peaks form.
Spread jam over crust, sprinkle with chocolate chips over top.
Spread meringue over chips.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Cool completely on wire rack before cutting.
