Combine butter, onion, dry mustard, sugar, salt and pepper in a large casserole dish. Cover with lid. Microwave on medium for about 6 minutes until onion is partially cooked.
Stir in beef and cover. Microwave on high for 16 minutes.
Stir in mushrooms and cover. Microwave on low for 20 minutes.
Mix in sour cream and cover. Cook for another 4 to 5 minutes on low. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving and serve with noodles or rice.
