Mix the sugar, cornstarch and jello together in a small saucepan. GRADUALLY add the water stirring constantly so as not to get lumps. cook on Med High stirring constantly until thick. I double the recipe sometimes if I am using a BIG pie plate
Put the sliced strawberries in the pie shell and then pour the sauce over the strawberries slowly letting it fall down through the berries. CHILL until firm. When ready to serve top with the whipped cream. The cooling takes at least 2 hrs...so you'll need to get this done earlier than right before you want to serve it! Grandpa Jerry's favorite
