Cut each wing into two parts. Place about 1/3 of the wings in a large nonstick skillet and brown in oil. (if the skillet is crowded, the wings will not crown.) Place in slow cooker. Mix remaining ingredients and pour 1/3 of the sauce over the wings in the cooker. Repeat with sauce and wings twice. Cover and cook on high 3-4 hours, or until wings are tender but not dry.
