Sauté beef in oil 1/2 at time till browned. Remove meat. In drippings, cook mushrooms for 5 minutes, then remove. In same pan cook bacon, onions, celery and carrots till brown.
Add the rest of the ingredients to the pan. Put meat back in pan. Simmer for 1 1/2 hours stirring occasionally. Add mushrooms. Cook for 15 minutes more. Thicken with 1/4 cup of water and the flour.
