Melt butter in a large pot over medium-high heat. Stir in salt, red onions and sweet onions. Cook about 20-35 minutes, stirring frequently, until onions are caramelized and almost syrupy. Add chicken broth, beef broth, apple juice, and Worcestershire sauce to pot. Bundle the parsley, thyme, and bay leaves in cheese cloth and tie with twine. Add to pot. Simmer over medium heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
