Cream together 1 cup vegetable oil, 2 sticks
butter, 1 cup granulated sugar, and 1 cup powdered
sugar. Add 1 tsp vanilla and 2 beaten eggs.
In a separate bowl, sift together 4 cups flour, 1
tsp cream of tartar, 1 tsp salt, and 1 tsp soda.
Gradually add flour mixture to butter-sugar
mixture, blending well as you add dry ingredients.
The dough will be soft.
Place in refrigerator to chill about 10-15 minutes.
Prepare a lightly buttered cookie sheet. Take a tsp
of dough, roll into a ball, and place on sheet. Dip
the bottom of a glass tumbler or juice glass in
sugar. Press dough to flatten.
Sprinkle more sugar on top of cookies before baking
in preheated 375 degree oven for about 12 minutes.
