Cream shortening, sugars, and peanut butter. Add egg and mix thoroughly. Add sifted dry ingredients. Roll mixture between two pieces of waxed paper until you have a rectangle approximately 12x20 inches in size.
Spread with melted chocolate to with-in one inch of edges. Roll up like a jelly roll so that it is 20 inches long. Chill until chocolate hardens enough ti be sliced.
Make slices between 1/8 and 1/4 inch thick and bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
