Peel the potatoes and cut into half inch cubes.
Chop the onion.
Press the garlic or use pre minced jar.
Add the potatoes, onion, broth, garlic, butter, pepper, and bacon to
the crock and turn on low for 4 hrs.
When the potatoes are tender, mash 1/2 of them and add in the
cream. stir and cook on high for 15 minutes

To serve- ladle the soup into individual bowls, stir in a dollop of sour
cream, and top with cheese, chives, additional bacon crumbles, and
salt if desired.
