1 cup buter
2 cups sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
4 cups flour
½ teaspoons baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
Cream butter and sugar; add eggs and vanilla. Blend in dry ingredients to form dough. Chill dough, then roll out about ¼ inch think and cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 – 15 minutes, depending on size of cookie, on lightly greased baking sheets. Ice if desired.
Icing:
1 stick butter
1 tsp vanilla
12 ounces powdered sugar
Milk
Food coloring, if desired
Cream butter, add vanilla and alternately add powdered sugar and mild until frosting is of desired consistency. Coloring may be added if desired.
