Preheat oven to 425. In large bowl sift dry ingredients. Using a pastry cutter, cut the shortening into flour creating a crumb mix. Add buttermilk tossing with a fork until dough forms. Knead lightly and roll until dough is 3/4 of an inch thick.
Cut out biscuits with biscuit cutter. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 min. Serve warm.
