Mix shortening, sugar, egg yolks and vanilla thoroughly. Blend together flour and salt, then stir in. Roll dough into balls (3/4 t. per ball)
Beat egg white slightly with fork. Dip balls in egg and roll in nuts. Place about 1 inch apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Press thumb gently in center of each. Bake at 350 for 1-12 minutes or until set. Stick thumb back into center of each. Cool and ice.
ICING- Mix last 5 ingredients and fill center of each cookie.
