Soak raisins in warm water, drain and dry.
Cream shortning and sugar; beat in eggs one at a time; stir in applesauce.
Sift dry ingredients 3 times and add to creamed mixture mixing well.

Blend in raisings, fruits and nuts.
|
|
|
Pour into 3 9x5x3 loaf pans which have been lined with 2 thicknesses of greased brown paper or parchment paper.
|
|
|
Bake at 300 degrees for 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
