Preheat oven to 400 F. Place cupcake liners into 8 muffin cups and set aside. In a medium bowl, melt butter in the microwave. Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt into a large bowl.
In the medium bowl, whisk melted butter, sour cream, egg, and vanilla until well blended. Add butter-sour cream mixture to flour mixture and blend. Stir in maple syrup and walnuts.
Divide evenly into cups and bake 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve warm out of the over, or make the night before.
