1 cup brown sugar
|

1/2 cup butter
|
|
2 t maple syrup
|
|
3 to 4 large apples, peeled, cored and sliced
|

4 eggs or 1 cup egg beaters
|
|
1 cup milk
|
|
1 t vanilla
|
|
1 t cinnamon
|
|
1/4 t nutmeg
|
|
|
|
16 slices of French bread or Italian bread, 2 inches

Instructions |

|
In a saucepan, cook brown sugar, butter and syrup until melted. Pour this into a 9x13 baking pan.

Place apples on top of mixture. Beat eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg.

|
Dip bread slices into egg mixture. Place bread on top of apples. Pour extra egg on top and sprinkle with extra cinnamon and nutmeg.

|
Cover and refrigerate overnight. Remove from fridge 30 minutes before baking. Bake 40 minutes at 350 degrees.
