2 pounds fresh beef brisket
|
|
2 medium onions, sliced
|
|
1/2 cup water
|
|
1 teaspoon salt
|
|
1 bay leaf
|
|
1 27 oz. can sauerkraut, drained
|

1 large potato, peeled and shredded (1 cup)
|
|
1 teaspoon caraway seed
|

Instructions |
|
|
Trim excess fat from meat.
Place meat, fat side down, in 4-1/2 quart Dutch Oven; brown meat on both sides.
Drain off any excess fat.

Add onions, water, salt, and bay leaf.
Cover, simmer for 1-1/2 hours.
|
|
|
Add sauerkraut, shredded potato, and caraway seed to meat.
Simmer covered, about 20 minutes longer or till meat is tender.
|

|
Remove Bay Leaf.
