Place flour, egg and water in large bowl and whisk well until smooth. core the apples and cut each into 8 wedges. Drop into the batter and roll in sesame seeds.

Place the sugar and 2 Tbsp oil in heavy bottom skillet and heat while stirring until sugar dissolves. Continue until sugar starts to turn golden brown. remove the skillet from heat.

Heat the oil for deep-frying to 35o degrees. Lift the apple pieces one by one from batter, fry 2-3 minutes, until golden brown and crisp.

|
Remove with a slotted spoon and dip very quickly into the sugar mixture. Dip the apple wedges briefly into iced water and drain on paper towel.
