In large bowl, beat buter, sugar, egg yolks and vanilla until well blended. Stri in chocolate and nuts. Sift dry ingredients, blend into creamed mixture. Stir in buttermilk.
Beat egg whites in seperate bowl. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
Turn into 2 greased and floured 9X5X3 loaf pans.
Bake at 350F for about an hour or until cake tests done. Cool. Dust with confectioners sugar.
