Combine and mix dry ingredients. In a large mixing bowl cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla and beat until well mixed. Add dry ingredients, blend on low until combined, do not over mix. Refrigerate dough for 1 hour until firm. Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness and cut dough with your favorite cookie cutter to shape. Bake at 350 F for 8 minutes or until edges turn brown. Frost as desired (edges only or entire cookie, cookie sweet enough for edge only frosting)
