Peel and slice apples (thin). Combine sugar, flour, spices and salt; mix with apples. Line a 9 inch pie plate with 1 pastry crust. Fill with apple mixture. Dot with butter. Adjust top pastry crust, slit top in 3-4 places.
Bake at 400 degrees for 50 minutes or until done.
