2 sweet onions (vidalia or walla walla) cut into thin wedges
2 tbsp butter
1 8oz carton dairy sour cream
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp ground white pepper
1/4 tsp coarsely ground back pepper
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
2 green onions, thinly sliced
Assorted dippers, such as potato chips and/or sliced raw vegetables
Instructions
In a large skillet cook onions in butter over meduim-low heat, stirring occasionally, for 10-15 minutes, or until very tender and just beginning to brown. Cool
In a blender or food processor combine onion mixture, sour cream, mayonnaise, salt, garlic powder, white pepper, black pepper and cayenne pepper. Cover and blend or process until nearly smooth. Transfer to a small bowl. Stir in green onions. Cover and chill 1-24 hours
Before serving, stir in milk, a teaspoon at a time, if necessary, to make of dipping consistency. Serve with assorted dippers
